Outsourcing Your Own Job To China

January 17, 2013

I love the story of the man who outsourced his own job to China.

He was an IT professional – and received glowing performance reviews… He was considered the best coder in his group.

It was a win-win-win as they say.

The company he worked for saved money because he telecommuted – so they didn’t have those pesky office space expenses. He provided great work.

The company he outsourced his work to in China won – because they got their asking price and were able to keep their employees busy.

And the employee won, because he made money off the spread… the amount he was paid by his company, and the amount of money he had to pay to get his work done in China.

In truth, he made a pile of dough while watching cat videos all day!

Is what he did so wrong?  Is there a lesson here?
